Education facility flooring
Durable, low-maintenance floor systems for schools, universities and vocational facilities that handle heavy daily foot traffic and tight maintenance budgets.
Floors that keep up with thousands of students every day
Educational facilities have some of the highest foot traffic of any building type, combined with tight maintenance budgets, strict scheduling and the need for surfaces that are safe, cleanable and durable through years of daily use. Gymnasiums, cafeteria kitchens, labs, locker rooms and high-traffic corridors all have different requirements and rarely get the individual attention they need.
We install flooring across Indianapolis, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio for K-12 schools, community colleges, universities and vocational training facilities: polished concrete for corridors and common areas, epoxy for cafeteria kitchens and labs, urethane concrete for food service, and joint repair to keep existing slabs performing. We work around school schedules so students and staff are never disrupted.

What drives flooring decisions in educational facilities
High-traffic durability
Corridors, gyms and common areas see thousands of students daily and need surfaces that resist wear without frequent refinishing.
Low lifetime maintenance cost
Education budgets demand floors that minimize cleaning time and the need for periodic recoating or replacement.
Slip resistance and safety
Cafeterias, locker rooms and entries need textured surfaces that reduce slip-and-fall incidents.
Chemical resistance in labs and kitchens
Science labs and cafeteria kitchens need floors that resist chemicals, cleaning agents and food acids.
Installation around school schedules
Work must be completed during breaks, evenings or summers to avoid disrupting classes.
Hygienic and easy to clean
Cafeteria, kitchen and restroom floors must be seamless, non-porous and cleanable with standard institutional products.

Alex and Luke did a great job on our cafeteria floor. They were given a very tight window and stepped up to get it done, working the weekend to make sure it happened. Floor looks great and Alex kept me up to date during the project.
What flooring system works best for school corridors and common areas?
Polished concrete is the most practical and cost-effective choice for high-traffic corridors and common areas. It requires no recoating, handles constant foot traffic and is maintained with simple mopping, so the upfront cost is offset by near-zero long-term maintenance.
Can you install flooring during summer break without disrupting the school year?
Yes. We regularly schedule school projects during summer break, spring recess and holidays, and plan the timeline around your academic calendar so all work is complete and cured before students return.
What is the best floor for a school cafeteria kitchen?
Urethane concrete. It handles the thermal shock from cooking and cleaning, resists food acids and grease, and meets the seamless hygienic construction requirements food service areas must satisfy.
How do you handle gymnasium floors?
School gym floors typically use polished concrete or a high-build epoxy, depending on the activities in the space. We assess whether the gym is used for physical education, events or both, and specify accordingly.
Are your floor systems safe for students with chemical sensitivities?
Yes. Once fully cured, our epoxy and urethane systems are inert and do not off-gas under normal conditions. We can also use low-VOC formulations during installation when air quality in occupied buildings is a concern.
