Food processing, pharma labs, commercial kitchens, cleanrooms

No joints. No gaps. No compromise.

An epoxy wall and cove system creates a fully continuous, seamless surface from the floor up the wall, eliminating the right-angle joint where bacteria, moisture and contaminants accumulate in standard construction. The cove base is a curved, trowel-applied transition that bonds the floor and wall into a single uninterrupted surface, so liquid and debris cannot get trapped at the junction.

We install wall and cove systems across Indianapolis and Indiana, and into Illinois and Wisconsin, for facilities where sanitation is non-negotiable. Food processing plants, pharmaceutical labs, commercial kitchens, cleanrooms and chemical processing facilities rely on this system because it satisfies strict hygiene codes and holds up to aggressive daily washdowns. The wall coating extends to whatever height your operations require, from a standard 4-inch cove base to full wall coverage.

What makes epoxy wall and cove worth specifying?

Eliminates contamination points

The curved cove base removes the floor-to-wall joint where bacteria and moisture hide.

Fully seamless surface

Floor, cove and wall coat apply as one continuous system with no seams or joints.

Withstands aggressive washdowns

Resists high-pressure hot water, steam cleaning and harsh chemical sanitizers without degrading.

Meets sanitation codes

Accepted in USDA, FDA and FSMA regulated food and pharmaceutical environments.

Chemical and stain resistant

Resists acids, alkalis, oils and food-grade cleaning chemicals that degrade standard wall finishes.

Custom height and color

Wall coating height and finish color are fully customizable to your facility requirements.

Our installation process

Every wall and cove system we install is built around one goal: a fully seamless, contamination-free surface from floor to wall.

  1. Consultation and site assessment

We assess your facility, hygiene requirements and wall substrate condition, and specify the right system height and finish.

  2. Surface preparation

Walls and floors are mechanically prepared to remove existing coatings, efflorescence and contamination for proper adhesion.

  3. Cove base formation

A trowel-applied cementitious or epoxy mortar forms the curved cove transition at the floor-to-wall junction.

  4. Wall coat application

Epoxy wall coating is roller or spray applied to the specified height, building a seamless chemical-resistant surface.

  5. Floor epoxy application

The floor epoxy system is applied and tied seamlessly into the cove base for a fully continuous surface.

  6. Final inspection and handoff

We inspect every inch of the wall, cove and floor surface and hand over care and cleaning guidelines.

Hoosier Industrial Coatings has now completed flooring work at two of our car washes, and they've done an excellent job both times. Alex is great to work with and was flexible when we had some construction schedule issues come up.

What exactly is a cove base and why does it matter?

A cove base is a curved, trowel-applied transition that connects the floor and wall into one continuous seamless surface. It eliminates the right-angle joint that standard construction leaves behind, which is a known collection point for bacteria, moisture and debris. In regulated food, pharmaceutical and chemical facilities it is often a code requirement.

How high does the wall coating go?

That depends on your facility and operations. A standard installation uses a 4-inch cove with wall coating extending 6 to 12 inches up. For splash-heavy environments like food processing or breweries, we typically coat walls to 4 or 6 feet. Full floor-to-ceiling coverage is also available for cleanrooms and pharmaceutical spaces.

Can this system be installed over existing tile or painted walls?

In most cases the existing surface needs to be removed or mechanically prepared first. Epoxy bonds to the substrate itself, not to paint or tile adhesive. We assess the substrate during our initial site visit and recommend the correct preparation approach.

Is the system suitable for wet and high-humidity environments?

Yes. The seamless epoxy system is designed for environments with constant moisture, condensation and washdowns. Proper surface preparation and moisture testing before installation are critical to long-term adhesion in wet conditions.

How long before we can use the facility after installation?

Light foot traffic is typically possible within 24 hours. Full chemical resistance and washdown readiness is generally reached within 5 to 7 days, depending on the system and temperature conditions during cure.
